Definitions
Key terms used throughout the Boss Trader Risk Calculator.

Account Balance

The total capital available in your trading account that you are allocating toward this trade. This is the basis for all risk calculations.

Risk per Trade

The percentage of your account balance you are willing to lose if the trade hits your stop loss. Professional traders typically risk 1–2% per trade to preserve capital across losing streaks.

Entry Price

The price at which you open your position. For a long, this is where you buy; for a short, where you sell to open.

Stop Loss

The price at which your position is closed automatically to limit losses. For a long it sits below entry; for a short it sits above entry.

Take Profit

The price at which your position is closed automatically to lock in gains. For a long it sits above entry; for a short it sits below entry.

Leverage

The multiplier applied to your margin, allowing you to control a larger position than your capital alone. Higher leverage increases both potential returns and liquidation risk.

Position Size

The number of units or coins you should trade, calculated by dividing your risk amount by the distance between entry and stop loss.

Margin Required

The portion of your account balance needed to open the position at the selected leverage. Calculated as position value divided by leverage.

Position Value

The total notional value of your position — position size multiplied by entry price — before leverage is applied.

Risk : Reward

The ratio of your potential profit to your potential loss. A 1:2 ratio means you stand to gain twice what you risk. A ratio of 1:2 or higher is generally considered favorable.
